Bloodpetal wrote:Madame Karkur, Instead of the horizontal count down bars that count down, can we get circular count down timers the same as on the module bar to show how long the effect will last? Thanks! That's actually like that in the original design, but we did not have enough time to implement that right now. CCP karkur | UI Programmer | Team Avatar | @CCP_karkur |

Raivi wrote:That's a pretty sweet new feature. A really awesome tweak would be if you could ctrl-click on the names that appear when you right click the icon to target the hostile. Anything that reduces the number of nested menus required in combat would be really good. Also this: Max Teranous wrote:I'd really like to see warp scrambling and warp disrupting seperated out into different icons - the 2 effects are very different nowadays. Other than that, cool for a first iteration. Max The first one would require some changes to the menus (affecting all of them)... of course something that "could" be done, but something we would really need to think about since it's not an isolated change for the Effects Bar.
The second one... I'll suggest that to Team Five O, which just borrowed me to implement this and really owns this going forward. This is not a change that I would want to do at this point, simply because I am not sure what other consequences that could have. CCP karkur | UI Programmer | Team Avatar | @CCP_karkur |

Just to address some of the comments:
- we wanted to put counter on the icons, but knew when we started the implementation that we would not have time for more than the basics... get this ewar info to you, and allow for some interaction with the attackers through the icons
- we cannot simply "ctrl"+click on the icons to target back because the icons do not represent one pilot... they represent that this effect is being applied to you and there can be 10 players that are behind that icon.
but please keep the ideas coming. We do have designs for feature, but I think it's great to get this out now, as it is, to get feedback from you guys on where you would like to take it CCP karkur | UI Programmer | Team Avatar | @CCP_karkur |

BoodaBooda wrote:Looks good, but I really want to know why that arbitrary and confusing time bar hasn't been changed. Can the icons have a glowing circle around them so we can see duration, or maybe have smaller vertical time bars extending out of the top of each status effect? Adding the timers to the icons would have been a bigger task and would have taken longer to implement, and we didn't really have the time to do that now.

Can you please find out if the effects bar can be moved independently of the main mod/capicator HUD? The Effects bar is a part of the HUD, and can't be moved from it (at least not the way it's now).

Debir Achen wrote:One concern: what mechanism is used for ordering the EW icons? I notice that the icons in one picture show Nos, RSD, Web and the other RSD, Nos, Web, ... . IMO, it is useful if they have a consistent order. They are now ordered as they come in.... the new one is always added to the right and everythings moves because the bar is centered.
I think we just need to see how this plays out on TQ... if it turns out that mot people want to have them in fixed place we might change that behavior later on.
And you guys do have some good ideas regarding the ctlr+clicks but just so you knows, that is not going to be implemented before it hits TQ. I have to admit that I am really tempted to go to work now (first day of summer so we have the day off, yay Iceland ) and implement some ctrl magic but it really has to be thought all the way through and designed properly (ctrl+click works when there is one targeting you but not not many could be confusing, ctrl+click to target all might not fly with the server programmers, ctrl+click in the menu to target would mean we would have to change the basic menus, target the first one to attack you, target the last one to attack you, target the one first on the list, target the one with the most/least modules, etc.).
That being said, we do have some designs for it which I think cover targeting back, but I'm not sure how that was supposed to work because we were only aiming to get you the icons above the HUD right now (even the right click menu is a plus to allow you to interact with the icons... it might even be removed when the bar is iterated on and you get some other way of interacting with the icons) CCP karkur | UI Programmer | Team Avatar | @CCP_karkur |

I have to say that I'm a little disappointed that you guys don't find the blog name as funny as I found it
When CCP RedDawn suggested DeBuff-alo Soldier I was in tears, and there were even more tears when we put Ewareness in front of it ("Scrambled Webs" was also tear worthy suggestion). Although, I knew that I probably found it funnier than it really was CCP karkur | UI Programmer | Team Avatar | @CCP_karkur |
